One with One

One WITH One began in 1983 with the idea of pairing volunteer tutors with immigrants and refugees, one-on-one, to help their social integration into the Massachusetts workforce. Since then its programs have broadened and deepened so that today they amount to comprehensive training and support—teaching English and math, training in office skills and communications, American business customs, personal financial management, parenting, problem-solving, attitudinal improvement, and help with such practical tasks as applications for jobs, naturalization, and mortgages. Tutors are carefully trained and supervised by staff, and work with their students 3 hours/week for 9 months. The Program has paired over 3,120 volunteers and newcomers from 87 countries; in the last 5 years, 100% of the students have secured jobs, with a 98% retention rate. OWO works because it is self-taught , thoroughly practical, hard-working, down-to-earth, and totally dedicated. It has great personal stories to tell, and with your investment you can share in that success and pride.
