DESCRIPTION:SVT was founded in 1953 to protect the wildlife habitat and ecological integrity of the watershed supporting the Sudbury, Assabet, and Concord Rivers spanning 36 communities. Today SVT has 3,100 members; it owns 80 properties totalling over 2,000 acres in 14 communities, holds conservation restrictions on nearly 1,000 acres, and has been instrumental in helping to preserve several thousand acres held by public agencies. Its mission stresses "conservation, collaboration, and community" — collaboration with other environmental organizations and public agencies, setting land protection priorities, developing professional stewardship, and enhancing its volunteer program. Now SVT needs to broaden its philanthropic support even further throughout the watershed. If SVT serves you, shouldn't you help support it? (1999: NATURE: Environment: Land, Air, Water, Climate)
