Wellspring is a grassroots South Shore human services organization providing a wide variety of programs to help people move out of poverty and build new and better lives. Most Wellspring clients struggle with more than one serious problem, so the ability to address several needs simultaneously is crucial to their success. A thrift shop, emergency food pantry and on-site crisis counseling help meet basic needs and find appropriate services when people need them. An adult-education program provides the means to secure employment - basic literacy training, courses for a high school diploma, computer instruction, job search workshops, and special training for mothers with children. Personal health and safety are promoted by programs aimed at domestic violence and substance abuse. Wellspring's strategy is to mobilize available community resources to solve problems, and to build a sense of community by providing volunteer opportunities -- community support to meet community needs. Wellspring needs your help to fund more job training computer classes, and to create a battered women's shelter for crisis situations.
