DESCRIPTION:Health Care For All is a nationally recognized membership organization founded in 1985 on the belief expressed in its name. It focuses on serving the health care consumers at greatest risk -- the uninsured, children, low-income elderly, immigrants and linguistic minorities, people of color, and the disabled and chronically ill.
Health Care For All has piloted organizing and program models that have been emulated by state and local groups nationwide. It works as a catalyst within the health reform movement, spurring new thinking and a renewed emphasis on empowerment and community-oriented approaches to problem-solving. It represents Massachusetts consumers on government health care access commissions, assists over 30 community coalitions across the state on a wide range of issues, focusing especially on patient eligibility and health program enrollment. HCFA has played a leading role in shaping most of the state’s health access programs for children and underserved populations, including the Children’s Medical Security Plan for children not eligible for Medicaid, the CommonHealth program for children and adults with disabilities, and the Medical Security Plan for people collecting unemployment insurance.
