Indian Hill Music CONTACT:PO Box 1484 Littleton, MA 01460 (978) 486-9524 www.indianhillmusic.orgSusan Randazzo, Executive Director
DESCRIPTION:This rapidly-growing regional model of a combined music education and performance institution serves more than 50 towns in north-central Massachusetts and southern New Hampshire with a total population of over 700,000.
Founded in 1985 by the merger of a music education program and an orchestra, it now enrolls 1,400 students of all ages and stages of accomplishment, with a faculty of 86, some of whom also perform in its 75-member orchestra led by Bruce Hangen, guest conductor of the Boston Pops and conductor of Youth and Family Concerts for the Boston
Symphony Orchestra. The Performance Division also offers chamber music, jazz and children's concert series, in addition to the regular symphonies and pops concerts.
The surest sign of success is its new music education facility, with soundproof classrooms and teaching studios, small performance spaces, and administrative offices, plus scholarship and other endowments. Furthermore, in October 2001, Indian Hill opened the Camilla Blackman Hall, a 200-seat performance venue for student recitals, jazz, chamber music, teen coffeehouses, and special events..
You can be a part of this success, which surely merits statewide support from individual donors. (2000: CULTURE: Arts: Performing: Music and Dance)
