DESCRIPTION:The Children's Law Center of Massachusetts (CLC) is the statewide legal aid organization serving disadvantaged children and youth, ages 18 and under, on matters affecting their health, education, and civil rights.
CLC lawyers advocate for children who have suffered abuse and neglect, been denied appropriate special education services, experienced homelessness or placement in foster care, and/or become stuck in our state's social service and juvenile justice systems. CLC also trains lawyers, parents, and helping professionals; maintains an information and referral network, including a help-line for children in crisis (888-KID-LAW8); and represents children's interests on state-wide task forces. CLC serves about 3,500 individuals annually, and has received many awards.
CLC is, in short, a unique, vital resource for some of our most vulnerable children; its continuing success depends on generous philanthropic contributions. Please help. (2001: HUMAN SERVICES: Children and Youth: General)
