Coolidge Corner Theatre Foundation
The Coolidge Corner Theatre in Brookline began in 1933 when a former
church building was transformed into a classic Art Deco movie house.
For years CCT has been famous for presenting the best independent,
foreign, and documentary films and videos, often preceded by live
music, as in the old-time moviehouse style. Its programs have also
favored underserved communities, with special series for Gays and
Lesbians, African-Americans, Women, Jews, Russians, Children and
Seniors -- the list goes on! CCT has also facilitated film study and
even production, with a video lab and training studio for interns. It
has been a conspicuous good citizen, collaborating with arts groups on
performing arts series, offering itself as a free venue for local
schools, community centers, libraries, and charitable fundraising,
with "Movies on Wheels" and "Summer Dollar Films" for seniors.
Listed by Boston Magazine as our #1 movie theater, by USA Today as #1
of the top 10 places in the USA to see classic cinema, and winner of
the Boston Society of Film Critics Innovative Programming Award, the
Coolidge is both a shining light in the world of film and an authentic
community treasure. Here is your chance to participate in their
success as a supporting patron.
