FCD Educational Services
FCD Educational Services is the world's leading nonprofit provider of school-based substance abuse prevention services. FCD's teachers are highly trained educators that come from the recovering community, and their centerpiece program is a four-day course tailored to different age groups -- from kindergarten through college. Using a combination of presentations, discussions, role-play, and exercises, as well as their own (age-appropriate) stories of addiction and recovery, instructors explain chemical dependency, abuse, the short- and long-term effects of specific drugs, and the skills -- or lack of skills -- that can lead to healthy or unhealthy choices. In addition to its courses, FCD offers a variety of programs including parent education forums, workshops and early intervention facilitation. Encouraging the non-use of alcohol and other drugs during the "growing years" FCD has served, since 1976, over a million students from over 350 schools in 38 states and 25 countries. To expand their programs and services, FCD needs your help now.
