DESCRIPTION:To create a more peaceful world, we must actively invest in teaching children, adolescents and adults the conflict resolution skills that will make peace possible. Images & Education (est. 1994) is an international non-profit organization dedicated to the development of media and communication programs that teach conflict resolution skills, promote respect for diversity and enhance cross-cultural understanding worldwide. In collaboration with UNESCO and the European Center for Conflict Prevention, I&E is developing the Peace Teaching Project, an innovative program to expand peace education by creating a set of multimedia resources, incorporating print, video and interactive media to empower and guide educators in the early stages of Conflict Resolution Education (CRE) training. By developing teaching resources and training programs in Spanish, French, Arabic and other major languages, this Project hopes to meet the need for multilingual CRE materials, and to expand the community of educators with CRE skills to a worldwide audience. I&E plans to establish a global network of educators with the help of its partners. UNESCO’s Associated Schools Project, with 7,500 schools in 176 countries, could be a valuable network in the dissemination of the program. The world needs more educators who can teach non-violent conflict resolution skills to both children and adults. Help Images & Education realize its vision in making the world a more peaceful place.
