Trinitarian Congregational Church Designated Haiti Program CONTACT:53 Cochituate Rd. Wayland, MA 01778 508-358-7717 x206 www.tccwayland.orgJames V. Pocock Jr, Pastor
DESCRIPTION:In the capital city of Port au Prince, Haiti (the poorest
country in the Western Hemisphere), Cit¨¦ Soleil has been
described as the "worst of the worst" slums. But in this
region of widespread disease, pervasive illiteracy,
unemployment, hunger, and malnutrition, Pastor Dieuseul
Estivene of the Trinitarian Congregational Church in
Wayland, has undertaken a mission to build a church and
school. Creating in the midst of poverty an oasis of
learning, safety, and hope, children are cared for, taught,
and fed at least one meal a day. The concrete structure
rises from the ground--now two stories high, but still
incomplete. The mission needs funds to finish the project
and to provide the meals, tools, and salaries to keep it
running. $1260 month feeds 150 children one meal a day.
$6000 pays for a cement mixer and block machine to help
complete the construction. The total amount needed is
$32,000. Won't you join Pastor Dieuseul in raising hope
from the ground up? (2002: HUMAN SERVICES: Well-Being)
