DESCRIPTION:

One of Massachusetts’ best-kept secrets is the terrific work of this charity. Boston MedFlight provides critical care air and ground medical transport services throughout New England. No critically ill or injured patient is ever turned away because of an inability to pay.

Since its creation in 1985 as a collaborative effort of Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Boston Medical Center, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Children’s Hospital, Massachusetts General Hospital, and New England Medical Center, MedFlight has experienced tremendous growth in response to community need. It now operates three helicopters, a feixed wing jet and two critical care ground vehicles out of bases at Hanscom Air Force Base and Plymouth Municipal Airport. In the past year alone, MedFlight transported over 2,300 critically ill and injured people, providing more than $9.5 million in services throughout the Northeast.

They aim to be ready, responsive and available to all, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Their services often mean the difference between life and death; or between debilitating injury and the hope for recovery. They rely on the generosity of individuals like you. This is an organization that really soars! Climb aboard.
