DESCRIPTION:

Diabetes is the single largest cause of blindness, non-traumatic amputation, kidney disease and failure in working age adults in the United States. That’s a startling statistic. But Camp Joslin is working to change that. For the last 79 years, Camp Joslin has been at the forefront as a provider of diabetes education specialty camps. Offering a safe environment and medical supervision, the camp has helped reach more than 50,000 children and young adults, giving them the skills they need to live healthier lives with diabetes. It is working. Camp Joslin is the only camp in the U.S. that has completed an outcomes Research study that looked at participants over a 30-year period, and that shows that children who attend its camp and support programs do realize better health later in life. In other words, the lessons that the children learn at camp stay with them for life, and it’s a longer, healthier life as well. Please help increase these kids’ odds -- support Camp Joslin.
