Waltham Partnership for Youth
As the only multi-sector collaboration of business, education and youth service leadership devoted to addressing youth issues in Waltham, the Waltham Partnership for Youth identifies and articulates the changing needs of Waltham youth, serves as a clearinghouse and catalyst for new ideas and program initiatives, and facilitates collaboration among youth serving agencies in Waltham.
Incorporated in 1997 by former Mayor William F. Stanley in partnership with Raytheon, Polaroid, IBM, the City of Waltham, Bentley College, and Brandeis University, this organization has the ability to bring varied constituencies together to address youth issues and to share common interests and resources. Over 80 children have attended extended day programs, 640 teens have joined a teen center, 12,000 books reached
needy children, and 24,000 free lunches have been served. The Waltham Family Literacy Coalition has resulted in the creation of the Even Start Family Literacy Program (provides preschool classes and simultaneous literacy, life skills, and parenting classes for parents); and the Open Summer Lunch Programs have served over 24,000 frees lunches to youth over four summers. If you agree that youth issues
contribute to the health of a community, then please support this organization.
