We all know what Big Brothers/Big Sisters organizations do — they match kids in need with caring, responsible mentors. And we all know why that is so important: it can pay huge and lasting dividends in both the lives of some of our neediest children, the “Littles,” as well as the adults who volunteer to nurture them, the “Bigs.”

Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Worcester County have been carrying out this important work for more than 40 years. But the need for Big Brothers and Big Sisters has never been greater. Last year, BBBS of Worcester County achieved a 50% increase in the number of matches it completed, bringing together 540 volunteer mentors with Little Brothers and Sisters. This puts them in the top 20% of all Big Brother Big Sister agencies in the United States in terms of annual growth. And they did it cost-effectively. Their average cost per match of under $700 is 50% less than the national average. They are doing more with less, and have been for a very long time.
