DESCRIPTION:Chorus pro Musica was founded in 1949 by Alfred Nash Patterson, a student of Robert Shaw’s and promoter of choral music. As a vital link between professional musicians, amateur performers and music lovers, the Chorus is all-volunteer, but at professional level, collaborating with the BSO, the Boston Ballet and the Cape Cod Symphony ( Cat'03), the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra and the Rhode Island Philharmonic. They have presented world premieres — e.g., the Armenian Divine Liturgy (Symphony Hall, 2001). They have performed in venues ranging from Carnegie Hall to Fenway Park. Under the direction of Jeffrey Rink, their repertoire ranges from the Renaissance to the present, with an emphasis on new and rarely performed works, in wide variety and chosen to celebrate choral music. For fourteen years they have presented high-quality, affordable concert operas with international soloists. In this 58th season, their 100 members are performing four independent concerts and one — Mozart’s Mass in C-Minor — with the Greater Boston Youth Symphony Orchestra ( Cat’99), Sunday Dec. 10 in Church of the Covenant, Boston. See two Catalogue charities at once! Your support will help strengthen their future. (2006: CULTURE: Arts: Performing: Music and Dance)
