MetroLacrosse

This youthful and energetic organization, established in 2000, has quickly become a flagship program in U.S. lacrosse. Over 1,000 boys and girls in traditionally underserved communities — including Chelsea, Dorchester, East Boston, and Roxbury — have learned how to incorporate RESPECT (Responsibility, Effort, Sportsmanship, Participation, Enthusiasm, Communication, and Teamwork) in their lives both on and off the field. In addition to year-round lacrosse clinics and summer camps, the kids receive “character education lessons” on healthy living, communication skills and strong teamwork. Impact reports have shown an impressive increase in participants’ awareness of integrity and strong character values. MetroLacrosse recently developed a Scholastic Placement Program that helps kids gain access to private independent schools nationwide, on full scholarship, with 8 placements so far. Partnerships and collaborations abound: ML works with New Balance, Cascade Helmets, and the Boston Cannons (professional men's lacrosse team), and shares office space with several children’s sports-related charities, which not only defrays costs, but also increases efficiency and fosters new collaborations. You'll enjoy supporting them.
