radKIDS
Founded in 1998, this group recruits and trains concerned community members (educators, police officers, parents, etc.) to become radKIDS instructors by completing an intensive 30 hours of training in its Personal Empowerment Safety Education Program. Designed for children preschool through 12 years of age, the radKIDS curriculum uses accelerated learning theory and realistic physical resistance skills to train young people to effectively escape violence and avoid harm. Course content covers virtually all aspects of personal safety including: bullying prevention; school safety; home safety, “out and about” safety, Internet safety, fire safety, bicycle safety, "good, bad and uncomfortable touch," sexual assault prevention, stranger danger, and physical resistance to violence skills. radKIDS is family-focused, parents are encouraged to participate. Since its founding, radKIDS has trained over 2,200 instructors to deliver the radKIDS program to children in a variety of venues including schools, YMCAs, Boys and Girls Clubs, churches, scouting, recreational centers, and community police departments, in 45 states and Canada. To date, radKIDS has provided safety education to well over 100,000 children. Donations have a powerful impact: $425 covers an instructor's scholarship, while a gift of $9,995 provides training for hundreds of children. Please help radKIDS continue this important work.
