Somerville Community Corporation is a non-profit membership organization that provides leadership for nurturing the city of Somerville as a vibrant, diverse and tolerant community. In addition to developing and preserving quality affordable housing – including 20 affordable housing projects, resulting in 200 ownership and rental units - SCC pursues its mission by offering services and leading community-organizing efforts that help low- and moderate-income Somerville residents achieve economic and housing stability and increase civic participation so they are better able to address the problems and improve the conditions affecting their neighborhoods and their lives. SCC views strong resident leadership as the backbone of healthy communities, and stands behind this commitment by providing the activities, services and guidance required to develop and implement appropriate and effective housing, economic and service strategies. During its more than 20 years of history, SCC has remained dedicated to helping empower Somerville residents to effect positive community change for themselves and their families through eviction counseling and financial literacy services, social services referral and school-based youth mediation programs.
