DESCRIPTION:

Here is a small, professional, award-winning, theater company with a rich heritage and an exciting future. Founded thirty years ago by local artists and business leaders to produce new work, GSC has since produced 35 world, 15 American, and 25 New England, premiers, some of which have gone on to critical and popular acclaim on- and off-Broadway, nationwide and internationally. They consistently win awards: in 2007, Northshore Magazine’s Best Live Theater Venue; in 2006 an IRNE (Independent Reviewers of New England) nomination of "Calvin Berger" as Best New Play, and a Boston Globe Top Ten Best Productions Award for "Happy Days"; in 2005 both the Elliot Norton and IRNE Awards for Best Actress to Sandra Shipley for her performance in "Long Days Journey Into Night", and a Governor’s Leadership Award to Artistic Director Erik Engel for increasing cultural tourism around Cape Ann; in 2003 "Collected Stories" received an Elliot Norton Award as Best Production by a Regional Theater, and an Addison Award for Best Drama. GSC trains children ages 6-17 in Youth Acting Workshops, and supports many Cape Ann charities with free or reduced tickets, including families served by Wellspring House (Cat’98). You can be a part of all this excellence.
