CATALOGUE FOR PHILANTHROPY 2008

Listing in the Catalogue is a unique fundraising opportunity, requiring a unique set of information, uniquely expressed, about your organization. Please do not, therefore, submit all or parts of information you use for grant applications, which this is not. Rather, we ask that you communicate more informally, describing with passion your charity and its mission.

There are two parts to the application process:

Part 1: Online Application

Our entire system of application and review is done electronically. Therefore, we are unable to accept applications e-mailed or mailed to us.

We suggest that you copy and paste the application into a Word document and save it on your desktop. Fill it out in your own time, and when you're ready, copy and paste your answers into our online form.

A few notes on some of the questions:
Question -- Second contact: Where possible, please give us contact information for someone to whom, in addition to the executive director, we may send questions or communications.

Question -- Field of Philanthropy: Please select from the pull-down menu the field that best fits your charity's activity. If you’re unsure, or believe that none of the categories applies, choose one anyway and add your comments in the “Field: Comments” box; we shall decide which is most advantageous for you, based on our experience.

Once you have completed the application, you will be given a chance to review it, then submit it. Please print a copy for yourself, as you will need to send a copy of it with other supplemental materials (see Part 2). If the application has been successfully transmitted, you will receive a confirmation email within a few hours of submission.

Part 2: Supplementary Materials
Once you have submittted your application online, please supply the following supplemental materials:

  • a print-out of the completed online application
  • a copy of your IRS determination letter
  • if possible, a copy of recent audited financial statements or annual report
  • your organization’s current operating budget

Please do not send videos, CDs or photos.

The above materials should be mailed to:

    124 Watertown St., Suite 3B
    Watertown, MA 02472

Please mail by USPS (not express mail) and postmark by application due date.

Finally, once you're done, why not wander over to our Directory and check the accuracy of our listings. Right now, we have ONLY included General Interest charities — local interest charities and those with larger budgets will be added in the coming years. But if you search the Directory and find your listing, please make sure the info we have is accurate. Please click here to get started.
