RE: GivingX Day

Dear Governor Y,

The war against terrorism. Rising cost of oil. A questionable economic recovery. Budget cutbacks.

Individually, these events adversely impacted charities. Combined, charities are struggling to find funding to support the growing needs they serve.

For the past four years, ten Governors have proclaimed the day after Thanksgiving as a day to encourage philanthropy in their respective states. This year, we are hoping to increase that number by adding X.

With these proclamations we are able to generate a significant amount of positive media coverage which in turn results in increased awareness about the benefits of giving.

A copy of the Giving Z Day proclamation, as well as a map depicting Giving Days across United States are enclosed. Additional information about Giving Days can be found on our Web site

As the spokesperson for The Catalogue for Philanthropy, creators of the annual generosity index, I would like to request your consideration of another proclamation to make the day after Thanksgiving “GivingX Day”. We firmly believe that this proclamation would make a powerful statement to encourage philanthropy.

I understand that proclamations are usually requested by individuals within your state. This proclamation doesn’t benefit any one organization but rather all X citizenry. I look forward to your positive response to this request. Please do not hesitate to contact me at 617.962.3136 for any additional information.

Appreciatively,
The Catalogue for Philanthropy
